How do I print a web page or
a document I just typed

Go to FILE on the top left part of your window.
Click on the PRINT option.
The PRINTER DIALOG box will appear:
If a PRINT PREVIEW is available you should preview it to make sure the document or web page will print the way you want it.
If, in the print preview you saw more than one page you should select the CURRENT page or specific pages you want printed.

INK JET PRINTERS

Currently the most widely use printers for home use. They print in black or in color. They come from very inexpensive to medium high cost depending on features and speed. However the high cost is associated with the replacement of the ink cartridges. A pair of black and color cartridges would render an average a 400 to 600 pages. You should be very careful not to print large images with colored backgrounds. You will greatly reduce the life of your cartridge.
If you are not going to use the printer for a few weeks you should remove the cartridges from the printer and store them in a ziplock bag. Try to remove as much air from the bag.
When you installed them again if they do not print correctly right away, it could mean that the printing heads may have some dry ink. Place a paper napkin on a plate (china not paper), pour one soupspoon of water in the middle of the paper napkin. Place the plate with the wet napkin in the microwave for 20 seconds. Remove the plate. Pick the cartridge (do not touch the gold contact points on one end of the cartridge) and rub the printing head on the hot wet paper napkin. If you will see a streak of ink on the napkin, you are ready to reinstall the cartridge in the printer. I you do not see ink after repeating the procedure a couple of times, your cartridge may have dried up or you cartridge is out of ink. Time to replace it.
If you are thinking about replacing your printer, do not purchase a printer with features you may never get to use. The price will be several times higher.

LASER PRINTERS

Laser printers were initially popular in the business world since initially the were pricey ($500 and above).
Like many technologies, laser printers have come down in price and are very accessible to the home user.
The major advantages of Laser printers are: cost per printed page, speed and low maintenance. A black Toner Cartridge will render from 2500 to 4000 pages. The replacement Toner Cartridge ranges between $40 and $75 (Black printing only).
Today you may find very reliable Black Printing laser printers from $100 and up.
Color laser printers are available starting $300 but they are the choice of users that need large number of Color printing and high printing speed. The replacement of color Toner Cartridges starts at $150.
TIP: If the printing becomes faint or streaky, remove the Toner Cartridge from the printer and shake it several times in different directions. The printing should become normal again.
