Usually mice have 2 buttons.
THE LEFT BUTTON and THE RIGHT BUTTON
Some mice may have a third button and also they may include a scrolling wheel.
It is almost impossible to address here all different options on mice, we recommend to read the manufacturers user guide for each mouse.
If you are right handed your index finger will always be on the left button and your middle finger will click the right button. Reverse for left handed people.
A
Scroll Wheel is used to move up or down on a long page being displayed on your screen.

To execute (open a program or  a document) the left button is clicked twice on an icon or on a filename. This actions is simple called DOUBLE CLICK.

The left button is also used to DRAG certain elements on the screen. You must first select the item but at this time you keep the left button pressed and you can drag the item selected almost anywhere on the screen.

On laptops wit a touch pad you can tap the pad in the center and that will select similarly to the action of a left button click
